Gyropoint(tm) Mouse adaptor

For those of you who haven't seen the Gyropoint(tm) mouse,
it is a PC PS/2 or serial mouse which functions as a
standard mouse on a desk, but can be used in midair
simply by moving your hand.

A friend recieved one of these from America as a Christmas present .
But it didn't work with his Amiga :-(

Sermouse didn't work, as it needed a separate 5V line for the gyros.
This is a simple adaptor which allows the Gyropoint to work with an Amiga:-)

Required :

Sermouse software (ftp.doc.ic.ac.uk:Aminet/hard/drivr/22sermouse221.lha)

1 9-25 pin sub-d adaptor

1 5 pin DIN plug (as for PC keyboard )

1 9 pin sub-d plug

2 core cable

The Gyropoint comes with an adaptor to plug into a PC serial port and
a passthrough plug for the PC keyboard socket.

Simply wire the two plugs as shown, and connect the 5 pin din
to the keyboard passthrough ,the 9 pin dsub to mouse port 1 or 2
on the Amiga , and the mouse adaptor to the serial port using the
9-25 pin adaptor.

plug numbering:

5 pin DIN 9 pin dsub

		   -------------
	2 \ 5 4 3 2 1 /
      5 4 \ 9 8 7 6 /
     1 2 ---------

5 pin DIN 9 pin dsub

	4-------0V------8
	5-------5V------7

Then run sermouse , and it works!

Alternatively, you could build a 12V-5V stepdown cicuit into the
25 pin plug shroud.

Disclaimer:
if this adaptor sleeps with your dog , bites your wife ,
or chases your sheep, don't blame me .

ALWAYS double check your connections.
