mcs v1.1a -- 1994.may.30, first public release
QUICK DOCS
==========
Mcs is an abbreviation for "make C string", since that is exactly what it
does. Mcs is a small tool for programmers that will convert any text/ansi
file into a c-source file in the form of a character pointer array, with
each line from the input file having an index in the char *generic[] array
generated.
One of my current (big) projects is a BBS package, and I found it easiest to
design my account editor, main idle screen and so on with an ansi editor
such as FANSi, and then run it through mcs -- at which point the file can
simply be #included, and minor changes (such as changing generic[] to a more
appropriate name) can be made.
Run it and see what I mean. It will also escape into standard C notation
the following ASCII chars: CSI, ESC, BEL, TAB, FF, CR, LF, \, ', and ".
