Short: A canal lock Author: M.C.Askin@e-eng.hull.ac.uk (Michael Askin) Uploader: M C Askin e-eng ac uk (Michael Askin) Architecture: generic Desc: A canal lock Dir: pix/real3d I produced this scene using Real3d 1.4, it took ages! I first started with making the landscape out of seperate blocks, but I had a problem of gaps, and steps on the ground. I then had the excelent idea of making a canal like they do in real life. Make some ground, and then cut (dig?) out the canal, lock chamber, gate recesses etc.. using the logical operators. The ridged gates are made in a similar way, by making a solid door, and then using a tool to cut out the recesses. The canal/lock walls where the most fun. To get a different texture on the side of the object to the top I had to AND NOT with PAINT, the tool having the texture on that I wanted, for example brick, or piling. That left the grass on the top (in fact I added the grass using the same technique after I had done all the other cutting/texturing). I added some (rather poor) clouds over the top using a sphere with a picture produced from: Clouds30.lha gfx/misc 45K 143+Generates fractal clouds Enjoy, Michael Askin ps. Is this the first 3d canal scene ever produced? I've yet to see another one.
